INDIANAPOLIS, IN (DECEMBER 5, 2025) - The International Order of the Golden Rule (OGR) is pleased to announce the nomination period is now open for the 2026 OGR Professional Service Awards, with submissions accepted through January 31, 2026. These annual honors celebrate individuals and funeral homes that exemplify exceptional dedication, innovation, and a deep commitment to excellence in the funeral profession. 

"We are thrilled to recognize outstanding individuals and member firms who continue to elevate the funeral profession," said Wendy King, CAE, CVA, Executive Director/CEO of the International Order of the Golden Rule. "This year, we are especially proud to introduce the Rising Star Award alongside our established honors, further highlighting the remarkable service, creative thinking, and unwavering dedication shown by our members. Each recipient, whether emerging or experienced, sets the benchmark for excellence across the profession and strengthens the communities they serve."

The OGR Professional Service Awards remain among the most respected accolades in the profession, highlighting meaningful achievements across several categories. A distinguished panel of experts reviews each nomination, evaluating nominees based on demonstrated professionalism, exceptional client service and measurable impact within the funeral profession. 

Award recipients will be celebrated during the Golden Circle Awards Celebration at OGR's signature event, PROGRESS, taking place May 5-7, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky. 

NEW! RISING STAR AWARD

Beginning in 2026, OGR will proudly present the Rising Star Award, recognizing early-career professionals who demonstrate exceptional promise, leadership, and dedication within the funeral service profession. This award honors individuals who have been employed by an OGR member firm for between one and five years, whether they are young professionals entering the field or second-career professionals embarking on a new chapter of service. 

GOLDEN LIGHT AWARD

The Golden Light Award salutes professional excellence exemplified by an individual member who has inspired others by their commitment to service through OGR involvement, community service, or volunteer activities that demonstrate "service measured not by gold, but by the Golden Rule."

GOLDEN RULE COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

The Golden Rule Community Service Award singles out a member firm for outstanding service as demonstrated by activities benefiting local organizations and/or the community they serve. 

GOLDEN RULE EXEMPLARY SERVICE AWARDS

The Exemplary Service Awards recognize Golden Rule firms that have displayed outstanding professionalism and exemplary service to the families they serve. Recipients are selected based on feedback received through OGR's Family Contact Survey Program.
