OGR AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS AT ANNUAL CONFERENCE

AUSTIN, TEXAS, APRIL 29, 2015 – The International Order of the Golden Rule (OGR) is proud to announce that it has awarded the annual Awards of Excellence Gold Scholarships at its Annual Conference & Supplier Showcase in Orlando, FL on April 24.  The scholarships provide assistance to students about to graduate from mortuary school and enter the funeral profession.

The 2015 Silver Award of Excellence was presented to Michelle Morrow of Carl Sandburg College in Illinois. She received a $2,000 scholarship to help complete her studies. The recipient of the 2015 Gold Award of Excellence was presented to Christine Sweeney who attends Southern Illinois University. She received a $3,500 scholarship to help complete her studies.

“OGR is happy to be able to help mortuary students realize their goals and I am sure these students will make a wonderful addition to the field of funeral service, and I congratulate them on winning these scholarships,” said Bud Wieting, outgoing OGR president.
